Privacy Policy

Futuron Inc ("we," "our," or "us") operates the BirdOdex mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

1. Information We Collect

Photos & Camera: When you use bird identification, your selected photo passes through our Cloudflare Worker to the Google Gemini API for processing. The photo is not stored on our servers after the response is returned. BirdOdex saves a local copy on your device with the sighting so you can view it later.

Location Data: With your permission, approximate location can be used to show regional birds and pin your sightings. Location data is stored locally on your device.

Abuse-Prevention Identifier: The app creates a random per-install identifier. Our server hashes it and temporarily stores only the hash and a request count for rate limiting. Rate-limit records expire within 48 hours. It is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking or advertising.

Purchase Data: If you subscribe to BirdOdex Pro, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store credit card information.

2. How We Use Your Information

To identify bird species from your photos using AI
To show birds in your geographic region
To track your collection, streaks, and achievements locally on your device
To prevent automated abuse and enforce fair request limits

3. Data Storage

Your bird collection, sightings, streaks, and profile data are stored locally on your device. We do not maintain user accounts or store personal data on external servers.

4. Third-Party AI Service

BirdOdex uses Google's Gemini AI to identify bird species from your photos. When you use the identification feature:

Your bird photo is sent securely through our Cloudflare Worker to Google's Gemini API for real-time analysis.
Photos are processed in real-time and are not stored by Google after the response is returned.
Your photos are not used to train Google's AI models. We use the Gemini API under terms that prohibit training on user data.
The app requests your explicit consent before sending any photo to the AI service for the first time.
Google processes data per their Privacy Policy and Gemini API Terms of Service.

5. Other Third-Party Services

Apple StoreKit: Used for in-app purchases and subscriptions.
Cloudflare: Hosts our API proxy and short-lived rate-limit counters. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

6. Children's Privacy

BirdOdex is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Data Retention

Photos sent for bird identification are processed in real-time and are not retained on our servers after the identification response is returned. A sighting photo may remain locally on your device until you delete the app. Hashed rate-limit records expire within 48 hours.

8. Your Rights

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control. You can delete all data by uninstalling the app. For any questions about your data, contact us at privacy@birdodex.com.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or on our website.
